BIOGRAPHY
Spurred on by his love of France, Imran Hashim studied French at the National University of Singapore before pursuing his Masters degree at the Sorbonne and Sciences Po in Paris on a French Government Scholarship.
His experiences studying in France would be the inspiration for his debut novel, Annabelle Thong (2016). Longlisted for the 2015 Epigram Books Fiction Prize, the book follows the adventures of its titular character, Annabelle Thong, a Catholic schoolteacher who, after enrolling herself at the Sorbonne in Paris, finds her world views and beliefs upended by the people she meets. The book was well received, and has been reviewed and featured by local news outlets such as The Straits Times and The Business Times.
Currently, Imran works as the Senior Liaison Manager at the University of Warwick’s Southeast Asia office.
