BIOGRAPHY
Clarissa Goenawan is an Indonesian-born Singaporean writer.
Her debut novel, Rainbirds, won the 2015 Bath Novel Award and has been shortlisted for the 2015 Dundee International Book Prize (UK), the 2015 SFWP Literary Award (US), and the 2016 First Novel Prize (UK). It was featured on Bustle as the Most Anticipated Book of 2018 and has been listed by The Huffington Post as one of the 60 Books We Can’t Wait to Read in 2018. Presently, the rights have been sold into 11 languages.
Clarissa’s short stories have also won several awards and have been previously published in anthologies such as The MacGuffin, Your Impossible Voice, Esquire, Monsoon Book, Writing The City and Needle in the Hay.
A former student of Curtis Brown Creative for novel writing, she is a mentor for #PitchWars, a mentoring programme involving authors, editors, and industry interns to help unpublished authors polish their manuscripts and pitch to potential agents.
Clarissa is represented by Barcelona-based Pontas Agency. She loves rainy days, pretty books, and hot green tea.
